Pick
One horse to finish 1st (Win), top 2 (Place), or top 3 (Show)
Minimum ticket
$2
Scope
One race
How it works
The simplest bets at any track. Win pays the most but requires your horse to finish 1st; Place pays if it finishes 1st or 2nd; Show pays if it's in the top 3. Payouts shrink as the requirement loosens. Beginner-friendly entry to handicapping.
Where to bet
US pari-mutuel wagering happens through licensed operators. TVG (FanDuel-owned) and TwinSpires (Churchill Downs) are the two largest dedicated US racing platforms. Caesars and DraftKings also offer horse racing in licensed states.
